So, I'm not familiar with existing theories and maths of black hole Hawking radiation, etc. but I read "Small enough, and they go off like a bomb, in seconds." and my brain went "can't you create a tiny black hole an intentional distance behind the ship to have the explosion push the ship forward, then use an electromagnetic sail parachu…
So, I'm not familiar with existing theories and maths of black hole Hawking radiation, etc. but I read "Small enough, and they go off like a bomb, in seconds." and my brain went "can't you create a tiny black hole an intentional distance behind the ship to have the explosion push the ship forward, then use an electromagnetic sail parachute to create enough drag that you can release a black hole in front of the ship using that slingshot inertia principle, timed so that the explosion creates just the right amount of force to slow the ship? Also useful for correcting trajectory. Probably wouldn't want to donate it right next to a planet, but then that saves the more finite or slow fuels for use purely as precision near planetary adjustments and landings, and black holes as long distance intersystem travel."
Also, having just read the Blowtorch Theory essay, the thought of "could we utilize the electromagnetic filaments for travel utilizing the natural helix shape to create artificial gravity using the principles of magnetism to direct where we want to go?"
